This chapter focuses on mediator organizations and their role in integrating the conservative coalition. It pays special attention to two such institutions—the Heritage Foundation and the Federalist Society—and how they seek to unify and mobilize lawyers for conservative causes. These organizations appear to have succeeded in drawing elite lawyers into the conservative movement, and they have made considerable progress toward fostering cooperation across constituencies.
