Ecological fitting provides a means of diversifying your resources when ecological conditions shift. Species who are unable to oscillate between generalizing and specializing perish. Those that survive have indefinite built-in evolutionary capabilities, suggesting that the biosphere will survive long enough to enable new biodiversity to evolve. The biosphere is beginning to cope with climate change, and the true question is how well humans will cope and adapt alongside it.
