This chapter describes the circumstances that led Francisco Núñez Muley to write A Memorandum for the President of the Royal Audiencia and Chancery Court of the City and Kingdom of Granada. It explains that Muley was a Granadan Morisco who most likely converted to Christianity as a small boy because, as early as 1502, he was already working as a page for then Granadan archbishop Hernando de Talavera. The memorandum was written after the Audiencia and Chancery Court of Granada enacted unreasonable assimilationist laws for all converted Muslims.
