Filled with the Spirit

This chapter focuses on the unique charisma of Bishop Yvette Flunder, the founder and leader of the Fellowship of Affirming MInistries. A review of the literature on political and religious charisma shows that while Bishop Flunder has many of the indexical qualities of a charismatic leader, she also makes constant efforts to dilute and even undermine her own status. Many members are drawn to TFAM because of her modesty and humanness, but this quality also presents challenges to the coalition as it plans for the future.
