This introductory chapter first sets out the book's purpose, which is to provide facts about Conservative Christians. It presents a sociodemographic study of Conservative Christians, which attempts to understand them from within their own perspectives and to reveal them in all the variety and complexity that they—like all other large groups of people—display. The chapter then describes the data and methodology of the study and the statistical analyses techniques used.
