Johnsonian Romance
Johnsonian Romance
This chapter investigates the autopsy as the founding event of both the Johnsonian monument and of a Johnsonian community united by desire for individual conversation. It discusses the romance in Johnson's autopsy. This chapter explains that in the context of the autopsy and the tradition of medical Johnsonians it inspires, the literary labor of preserving Johnson's immortality as an anecdotally embodied Luke Wilson's character exemplifies the characterization of the practice of anatomy as a romance that recuperates, reunifies, and reanimates dissection's violent reduction of the body to its parts.
