- Capitalizing China by Joseph P.H. Fan and Randall Morck. This in-depth text analyses the factors which have contributed to China’s recent economic boom, whose national economy is soon set to outstrip that of the United States.
- Bonds of the Dead: Temples, Burial, and the Transformation of Contemporary Japanese Buddhism by Mark Michael Rowe, in which the central role of death and mortuary services in Japanese Buddhism can generate tension by public debate over the status, treatment and location of the dead.
