The evangelical science films examined in this chapter rely on the “facts” of science to prove that this world could only be the product of an intelligent Creator. MIS sought publicity in both the Christian and the secular press, and the special topics of its films meant it could turn to nonevangelical specialty periodicals. It seemed to win over many dubious evangelicals by showing a wholesome commitment to evangelism and a determination to be in the world but not of the world. Moon was a pioneer in evangelical film production, and succeeded in finding a means of distributing and exhibiting his independent productions outside of conventional Hollywood channels. To some extent, then, contemporary evangelical media producers are carrying on a tradition started by him.
