The conclusion draws the main argument to a close by discussing what is implicit in the notion of reason as a faculty. Despite its freedom, reason is run through by a facticity (it is not free to choose what it is and how it works). Reason turns out to be a power which we may or may not endorse. As such it is not to be equated with subjectivity as it typically is.
