This chapter explores the development of anthropological institutions in the late nineteenth century and their place within the wider world of Germany after 1900. During this period, physical anthropologists experienced difficulty establishing firm anchors in the German university system, which had little use for their science, or in ethnographic museums, where ethnology already dominated.
