This chapter presents some theoretical and empirical discussions on territoriality and borders. It first discusses the debates on states’ territoriality and borders within and outside the discipline of International Relations. The intersection between territories and territorial identities, including the changing definitions of “state” and “sovereignty”, is also discussed.
