This chapter analyzes Hegel's specific conception of "ethicality" (Sittlichkeit) and its function in the theory of objective spirit, in the early writings as well as in the Philosophy of Right and others late works. It underlines the importance of the tensions into the civil society, that can produce the phenomenon of a large-scale exclusion of the "rabble" (Pöbel).

Keywords:   Ethicality (Sittlichkeit), objective spirit, civil society, rabble
