This concluding chapter begins with a discussion of what the niche framework presented in this book does for ecology, considering the limitations of the niche framework and then comparing niche and neutral theory. It argues that the niche framework can bring together the diverse theoretical and statistical tools being developed in the field of ecology, and can serve as the foundation for ecological studies.
